We just got home from Family Camp '09 with our church. It was nice to get out and be somewhere different, to have people around constantly, and especially that those folks were willing to watch him whenever.
I'm extremely tired none the less. There is a really huge part of me that would rather have terribly painful things done to me than travel with my baby. It is sheer torture.
There are 2 sides to every experience these days.
Friday: Jeremy got home early, we packed in a mad dash. We drove almost 2 hours in the dark and heavy rain on curvy mountain roads, through most of which Corin screamed. Arrived at camp, sloshed around and said "hi" to everyone, tried to make grumpy baby happy, finally went to bed after a time of worship (which I experienced from another room with grumpy baby).
Saturday: Woke early, showered fast, ate tons of yummy food, walked a gorgeous beach (to make grumpy baby sleep), rode a flying fox (zip line), chased happy baby all over creation, did talent show with sleeping baby on daddy, went to bed exhausted - woke for hubby delivered roasted marshmallow.
Sunday: Worship, more food, packing and going home with sleepy baby.
At home: cleaning, grumping, grumpy baby, and exhaustion. Ready for bed @ 6pm.
I am so thankful for this trip. It's beautiful up there (even in the dead of Winter on a rainy weekend). Daffodils are blooming, everything (including the grass) is still green in NZ. The company was fabulous. I'd do it all over again ... if someone else was keeping Corin for the weekend.
I learned something: I've hit that point that I am officially defined by Corin's existence. I'll adjust.

- Swimming this morning! Corin loved it (yay warm water) and I was fortunate to not be alone. It would have been impossible without friends! #
- Naptime is over, and Corin is playing with a Wii wheel while hiding in a tent I made. He's trying to shove the wheel under the recliner! #
- important skill: when doing anything against the will of a 1yr old, put them in a place where the angry back-arch won't cause them harm! #
- Rained all day today, lightly with moments of sun, not very cold. Overall I'd say a pretty nice day. Tonight: shopping, cleaning, and bath! #
- The caffeine is a LIE! #

IF YOU'RE ON MY FRIENDS LIST, I want to know 35 things about you. I don't
care if we've never talked, never really clicked, or if we already know
everything about each other. I really don't. You are obviously on my flist,
so let me know with whom I'm friends!

Yesterday we celebrated Corin's 1st birthday! One year ago we had a very busy morning/early afternoon that ended a phase in my personal development and began another. It has been a busy year full of change upon change for you, my little Scooter. Learning everything from rolling to walking and moving to the other side of the globe. You have shone like a star in my life and dazzled me every day. I am so happy to have you along for this great adventure, and I'm so excited to be permitted to watch you experience the start of your journey. Your mummy loves you so much!
Corin's wonderful grandparents, the Kemps, flew down for his 1st birthday and have spent a fun and Corin filled week with us. It has been great showing them around. It has been an adventure in and of itself (getting lost coming home from Piha). We have wonderful Randy Kemp photography as an eternal souvenir from this visit. We will anxiously await our next meeting!
